Tide of Panic (#158)
Aug. 16th, 2012 06:12 amTitle: Tide of Panic
Challenge/Prompt: #158: Flood.
Characters/Pairings: Reeve
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: none
Disclaimer: I dun own anybody, really.
Summary: It had to be a scary thing, the rising of the Lifestream.
Author's Notes:
There wasn't going to be a rescue. Not in time. Reeve watched the strange green ...not a mist, not really... creep down the staircase to the holding cells. Curl along the floor. As it touched the toes of his office loafers, he knew it wasn't mist. Translucent... liquid... life.
He got up on the bench of the holding cell, watching the gentle, luminescent floodwaters rise. Listened to Cait over his headset, organizing panicked refugees as well as it could.
There wasn't going to be a rescue. Not from this, not in time. Could you drown, in a flood of life?
